Hip-hop artist, poet and producer Original Flow will take the stage for tonight’s Scissortail Streams, our weekly performance highlighting local musicians and streamed on Facebook Live.
Born Christopher C. Acoff, Original Flow is following in his father’s MC footsteps and is a member of experimental hip-hop group The Fervent Route. Original Flow considers the group an artistic blend of A Tribe Called Quest and the Roots.
He encourages the preservation of the storytelling component of music.
“All music has a story to tell and both have been around since the dawn of time,” he says on his website. “We must keep that. We must. When we remove the ’human aspect,’ music becomes less and less human or real. You can’t relate and so it’s just…there. Regardless if the story is a happy one or not, tell your story. Remain with the human aspect we can all identify with and continue to share it with others.”
Enjoy this wordsmith with a message and his distinctive old school feel beginning at 7 p.m. He is recorded on the Love’s Travel Stops Stage, one of the many distinctive amenities in Scissortail Park.
This is the ninth episode of Scissortail Streams which were created to support local artists during the shelter-in-place restrictions and highlight a different location in the Park.
Supported by the Oklahoma Arts Council, which receives support from the State of Oklahoma and the National Endowment for the Arts, the concerts are streamed on the our Facebook page and on the Scissortail Park OKC YouTube channel.
Next week will be the last Scissortail Streams concert. Something new will be taking its place. Stay tuned for details.
