Let’s Take a Field Trip

Let’s Take a Field Trip

Who among us doesn’t remember the excitement and anticipation of a school field trip, going to a place away from the classroom, to learn in a different way? Maybe it was to a museum; or to a library; or to a zoo. Community places are rich learning laboratories, offering memorable experiences for students.

One of the easiest ways to transform community into classroom is to visit a park. Why not make Scissortail Park an extension of day-to-day learning and plan a field trip to Oklahoma City’s new urban green space. We can think of lots of ways for students to learn while at the Park.

Scavenger hunts offer the opportunity to identify plants, count found objects and play Eye-Spy. Visit with a Horticultural Specialist or a Park Ranger.

Enjoy a Streetcar ride through downtown Oklahoma City and back. Have lunch in the Play Pavilion and burn off some energy on our cool playground.

With 36 acres between Oklahoma City Boulevard and Skydance Bridge, the Park has plenty of space for exploration.
