Monarch Tagging at Scissortail Park
Join Scissortail Park for a special opportunity to get up close with one of North America’s most iconic butterflies! During our Monarch Tagging event, participants can learn about monarch migration and help contribute to important monarch research and conservation efforts.
LOCATION & COST
Participants will meet at the Scissortail Boathouse, located at 650 S. Hudson Ave., just across from Social Capital.
This is a come-and-go event, so you are welcome to stop by, participate, and leave when it works for you.
PRICING
Park Members: $5 per person
Non-Members: $7 per person
Children 3 & under: FREE
WHAT TO BRING?
Monarch tagging takes place outdoors, so please come prepared for the weather.
We recommend bringing:
Comfortable, breathable clothing
Close-toed shoes
Sunscreen
A water bottle
Weather Policy: Monarch tagging is dependent on suitable weather conditions. If the event must be canceled due to inclement weather, participants who have pre-registered will be notified by email and issued a refund.
REGISTRATION
This is a come and go event, participants do not have to stay for the whole 2 hour period.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Although there are pre-registration links listed below for each date, we will also be on hand to sell entry to the program, if the class doesn’t fill out. We have 33 spots per tagging time. Links are now live!

Haven’t registered in advance?
No problem! You can purchase tagging at the event as long as you do so by the 10:30am registration deadline.
Thinking about becoming a Park member?
Park members receive a $2 discount on monarch tagging, making membership an excellent way to save while enjoying programs and experiences at Scissortail Park.
